How targeted injections can permanently reduce even stubborn fat deposits
A face is often perceived as aesthetically pleasing due to symmetrical features, harmonious proportions and even skin. Small fat pads and age-related sagging, such as jowls or a double chin, can influence the appearance and contour of the face.
Injection lipolysis offers a direct and at the same time simple method to make unwanted fat deposits in the face or neck area disappear permanently. With the fat-away injection, even smaller fat accumulations that resist diets or otherwise effective exercise can be reduced or completely eliminated – on an outpatient basis without major intervention.
Goodbye double chin and hamster cheeks – face contouring by lipolysis at PraxisClinic Jadore is the gentle alternative to a surgical facelift and often already achieves the desired result. The fat-away injection, already known with great success from non-surgical bodyforming, is also used for targeted facial contouring. Unwanted fat pads can be removed sustainably and a harmoniously contoured face can be achieved. As the skin above the fat cells tightens when they are dissolved by injection lipolysis, an optical rejuvenation effect is also produced.
In lipolysis by injection, the active ingredient phosphatidylcholine is injected into selected areas of the face and neck with a very fine needle, causing the fat deposits stored there to break down and be transported away via the lymphatic system and metabolized by the liver within about 4 weeks. The fat pads are thus reduced or eliminated by the body in a quasi-natural way, and the skin in the treated area is slightly tightened, which results in a rejuvenating effect. For a perfect cosmetic result, usually 2–3 lipolysis treatments at intervals of 6–8 weeks are required.

How does injection lipolysis work?
Injection lipolysis, commonly referred to as the fat-away injection, describes a procedure in which aesthetically disturbing fat deposits in the face or other parts of the body are removed by injections without surgery. Natural fat-dissolving substances such as phosphatidylcholine – a major component of the human cell membrane that is also found in many anti-aging creams – or deoxycholic acid, which also occurs in the human body, are injected into the deposits of the selected facial regions to dissolve the fat cells. Through several targeted punctures, the fat-reducing effect of lipolysis can be precisely dosed. Dr. Jethon has extensive experience in applying this method, which he has successfully practiced for many years.
What advantages does injection lipolysis offer?
Injection lipolysis is a proven procedure especially for the facial area and the neck because the fat pads present there are comparatively small compared to the abdomen or hips. In addition, the use of the fat-away injection is generally effective only on such manageable areas; for larger areas, liposuction is recommended.
The advantage of injection lipolysis, particularly for face contouring, is that the removal of existing fat deposits is carried out by targeted injections using an extremely fine needle, which can be precisely controlled; local anesthesia of the respective areas is not necessary but can be administered at your request. The procedure is very gentle, so you can leave PraxisClinic Jadore immediately after the treatment by Dr. Jethon.
With the fat-away injection, the fat-digesting active ingredient phosphatidylcholine, which also naturally occurs in the body, is injected into the adipose tissue. The fat is broken down evenly and in a quasi-natural way, and the skin in the treated area is also tightened.
Usually 1–2 repeat treatments are sufficient to achieve an optimal final result, which becomes fully visible after about 6–8 weeks. The general effect of injection lipolysis at the respective sites is also permanent, as the dissolved fat cells usually do not regenerate. Only in rare cases does injection lipolysis fail to achieve the desired result, e.g., if there is resistance of the fat cells to the drug combination or dietary errors.
Possible risks of injection lipolysis in the facial area
Injection lipolysis in the facial area normally poses no health risk for a healthy person beyond the known occasional side effects. These can include swelling, skin redness as well as burning or itching sensations, which are typical signs of the fat dissolution process.
In principle, health risks from the fat-away injection have not been observed to date. The natural active ingredient phosphatidylcholine (PPC) is obtained from soybeans using a biotechnological process and is often combined with deoxycholic acid to enhance the effect; its metabolism is very good and has been thoroughly studied and documented.
However, injection lipolysis must not be performed in pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in cases of a soy allergy, coagulation disorders or a skin infection on the face. The fat-away injection is also not suitable for general weight reduction or the treatment of obesity.
Your preliminary consultation with Dr. Christoph Jethon for injection lipolysis
In preparation for your planned injection lipolysis at PraxisClinic Jadore, Dr. Christoph Jethon will discuss the course of the treatment with you in a consultation; he also wants to learn about your personal expectations, because although the fat-away injection is suitable for making smaller fat pads disappear, other treatment methods are available for larger problem areas.
He will explain the exact procedure of the treatment as well as the total duration required to achieve the result agreed with you. Dr. Jethon will inform you about the costs involved and ask you about possible pre-existing conditions or allergies – e.g. to soy products – in order to exclude associated risks. He will also explain how you can best prepare yourself for this procedure.
How to best prepare for your facial injection lipolysis
You can actively contribute to an optimal outcome of your injection lipolysis treatment by following certain behavioral measures. From about 2 weeks before your appointment at PraxisClinic Jadore, please follow the following recommendations:
Medication intake
Avoid, if possible, all medications that increase bleeding tendency – these include aspirin and similar products that contain acetylsalicylic acid, such as blood thinners. Of course, this measure does not apply to all medically prescribed or health-necessary medications; please inform Dr. Jethon about these.
Smoking and alcohol
Regular smoking and drinking increase the risk of circulatory disorders of the tissue as well as delayed wound healing, which also affects the breakdown of fat cells. Therefore, you should in particular abstain from alcohol consumption after injection lipolysis.
Preparation checklist:
- Avoid medications containing acetylsalicylic acid
- Stop alcohol consumption
How is the injection lipolysis procedure in the face performed?
When applying injection lipolysis or the fat-away injection, Dr. Jethon injects the lecithin phosphatidylcholine (PPC) directly into the respective areas of your face using the finest needles to stimulate increased fat breakdown and the dissolution of fat cells. Prior anesthesia is not necessary; upon your request you can receive local anesthesia.
This treatment takes between 15 and 30 minutes. The effect of the fat-away injection can be seen after just a few days, and the full effect becomes visible after about 6–8 weeks. To increase the success of the lipolysis therapy, it can be repeated about 2–3 times at intervals of 8–10 weeks.
Checkliste zur Injektionslipolyse:
- Local anesthesia available on request
- Treatment duration: 15–30 minutes
- Repeat treatments: 2–3 times
Healing process and aftercare of injection lipolysis
After an injection lipolysis treatment, the face at the treated sites often feels somewhat swollen, and burning or itching may also occur more frequently. These symptoms are an expression of the fat breakdown process and subside on their own after a few days; applying a cooling gel pack usually alleviates them. However, avoid facial massages.
You should also refrain from sports and sauna visits in the week following each lipolysis treatment. Immediately after the treatment by Dr. Jethon you are socially presentable and can also perform non-strenuous professional activities.
After about 4 weeks you can admire the final result of your facial injection lipolysis treatment. It can be repeated at intervals of about 6 to 8 weeks to enhance the rejuvenating effect in your face. Dr. Christoph Jethon recommends repeating injection lipolysis a total of 2–3 times.
Healing course checklist after injection lipolysis:
- No bandage required
- Swelling, redness or itching may occur
- Cool treated areas with a gel pack if necessary
- Socially presentable: immediately
- Fit for work: immediately
Injection lipolysis for other body areas
Dr. Christoph Jethon offers, in addition to injection lipolysis in the facial area, also liposuction for other areas of the body at PraxisClinic Jadore.
