What modern breast surgery can achieve today
Many women consider a well-shaped breast an important feature of their beauty. The desire to look good in both an elegant evening dress and a skimpy bikini while maintaining a completely natural appearance is often paramount. In addition to a sensual shape, symmetry and tactile qualities are decisive for the desired effect. Not least, a more attractive appearance can also strengthen self-confidence.
One's breasts do not always naturally correspond to personal ideals regarding size or shape – or for other reasons: the body changes and ages over time, tissue firmness decreases, hormonal influences, pregnancies, surgeries, accidents and illnesses, as well as lifestyle choices, leave their marks and often create the desire to reduce or eliminate their visual effects.
Modern surgical procedures for breast augmentation can provide a reliable way to correct aesthetic irregularities and maintain a natural-looking, full breast permanently. In addition to safe and nearly invisible surgical techniques, there is also a wide range of breast implants of different sizes, shapes and textures to choose from in order to find the model that best suits the individual, offering maximum safety and long-lasting satisfaction with one’s appearance.
An operation should always be performed according to your own wish to increase your attractiveness, and not at the suggestion of others. A realistic attitude about what can and should be achieved is also crucial for the success of surgical breast augmentation. The goal should be a natural-looking appearance, not the attainment of an abnormally appearing, grotesque silicone look, which also carries health risks and burdens.
Dr. Jethon at PraxisClinic Jadore: Your experienced partner for all aesthetic surgeries
Dr. Christoph Jethon, plastic surgeon and head of PraxisClinic Jadore, is the physician you can trust when deciding on breast augmentation. He accompanies you through every step: from thorough preparation and consideration of your preferences to the operation itself and the supervision of aftercare. His many years of experience and pronounced sense for harmonious proportions and aesthetics are guarantees for an impressive custom result.
Individual surgical methods for breast augmentation – for perfect results
The choice of surgical method for breast augmentation is always based on the individual female anatomy. The most favorable implant position also plays an essential role: it can be placed either epipectoral – on the chest muscle – submuscular – under the chest muscle – or partially submuscular – i.e., partially beneath the chest muscle.
For example, in very slim women who have little fatty tissue, it is recommended to place the implant under the chest muscle in order to create the most natural-looking breast appearance.
The surgical approach can be at the areolar edge, through the nipple itself, in the inframammary fold or through the armpit. The incision in the inframammary fold is the most widespread method for breast augmentation. The resulting scar is concealed by the breast itself and is therefore virtually invisible in everyday life. Dr. Christoph Jethon will discuss all possible alternatives for breast augmentation with you in detail and choose the best approach together with you.
Our implants for your breast augmentation
The implants preferred by Dr. Christoph Jethon are of high quality and safe, and they are also particularly durable. They consist of a special form-stable silicone gel that also matches natural breast tissue in feel and thus provides a high wearing comfort. All implants are multilayered so that the silicone cannot escape even under physical stress.
Dr. Christoph Jethon places particular value on the shape of the implants he uses. These replicate the anatomical structure of the breast and behave naturally with all body movements. Consequently, your body silhouette remains harmonious in every position: for example, when you lie on your back, your breasts shift with gravity as you are accustomed to.
The choice of the implant best suited for your breast naturally also considers the appropriate size to promote the desired harmonious overall appearance that should blend in as if it were a natural part of you, without being noticeable as such.
Risks and consequences of a breast augmentation
The immediate aftereffects of the surgical procedure for breast augmentation are unavoidable but manageable: in the first days after the operation you will feel mild pain at the incision sites, particularly when you move; however, these will subside quickly. Bruising and swelling of the tissue also commonly occur, but are harmless.
The scars that form require some time before they almost completely disappear – the special suturing technique reduces their visual prominence to a minimum.
Temporary sensory disturbances of the breast or nipple can also occur, and breastfeeding ability may be affected for some time. An increased risk of breast cancer caused by an implant is not known!
The so-called capsular contracture is a natural but rare process in which a thin collagen layer forms around the breast implant. Only in a few cases does this layer become so pronounced that it alters the shape of the implant, requiring an exchange.
Your path to a well-shaped breast with Dr. Christoph Jethon
The realization of your wish for an aesthetically shaped augmented breast at PraxisClinic Jadore takes place in several steps that together ensure the success of a breast augmentation with implants.
Your personal preliminary consultation with Dr. Christoph Jethon
At the beginning of every surgical breast augmentation is a detailed consultation with Dr. Christoph Jethon. He takes time for you and addresses your personal wishes and ideas, explains what is possible and what the path to the desired result will look like.
Dr. Christoph Jethon explains the resulting costs and possible alternatives, informs you about the surgical method best suited for your case and the characteristics of the implants used. Finally, you clarify the possible risks together through a medical history, which could arise, for example, from your medical background, as well as anesthesia.
Dr. Christoph Jethon will advise you on how to optimally prepare yourself for the procedure. Possible allergies to certain medications or care substances will also be taken into account.
How to best prepare for the procedure
So that your healing after the surgical breast augmentation proceeds as favorably and quickly as possible, you can also contribute by considering the following factors in advance as part of your preparation:
Nutrition
Each breast consists of a portion of glandular tissue and a portion of fatty tissue. While the glandular portion is genetically determined, the fatty tissue portion is mainly influenced by your dietary habits. If you lose weight after the operation, the breast may also lose tension and volume. Therefore, the closer you already are to your ideal weight before the operation, the more satisfied you will be with the result in the long term. A diet in the weeks beforehand therefore supports the success of your breast augmentation.
Medication intake
Unless they are medically prescribed and necessary for health reasons, you should avoid all medications that increase bleeding tendency – for example, aspirin and similar products that contain acetylsalicylic acid. Stop taking them approximately 2 weeks before the scheduled surgery. The use of sleeping pills should also largely be discontinued during this period.
Smoking and alcohol
Regular smoking increases the risk of circulatory disorders and impaired wound healing, both of which are important for faster recovery after the surgical procedure. Therefore, you should, if applicable, stop smoking at the latest 2 weeks before the operation. Regular alcohol consumption also impairs the healing process.
Other
In individual cases, it may be sensible to perform a mammography or an ultrasound examination before the operation. This allows possible tissue changes to be compared before and after the procedure. Dr. Christoph Jethon will advise you in your preparatory consultation about the possible necessity of such an additional examination.
Checklist for preparation:
- Possible weight reduction
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and sleeping pills
- Restrict tobacco and alcohol consumption
- Possible mammography / ultrasound examination
How is the operation performed?
You will usually receive general anesthesia before the operation, even if the surgical intervention on your body will be relatively small, because this keeps you completely relaxed. The duration of the operation is usually between 1 and 2 hours. You will be operated on in a semi-seated position so that Dr. Christoph Jethon can already check the ideal placement of the implant during the procedure. He will perform the procedure personally and will ensure that the required incision is as small as possible to insert the prepared implant. This will then be placed in the designated ideal position – either on, under or partially under the chest muscle – so that it achieves the planned visual effect perfectly. Finally, the wound is closed with intracutaneous sutures so that the surgical scar is almost invisible once healing is complete. You will receive a dressing for further protection.
Breast augmentation operations usually require only an outpatient stay at PraxisClinic Jadore, so you can go home the same day. In individual cases, or if you personally desire a rest day, you can also spend one day in one of our comfortable rooms to recover undisturbed.
Checklist for the operation:
- General anesthesia
- Duration of surgery: 1 – 2 hours
- Total duration: outpatient, possibly 1-day stay
What to observe after the operation?
Due to the incision required during the operation, you will experience mild pain at the site for the next two days. Typically, swelling and bruising will also form there, which usually disappear after several days.
When sleeping, avoid positions that put pressure on the breasts; a slightly elevated supine position is ideal.
For the following 6 weeks you should refrain from sports activities, as well as other physical exertion and sauna visits or frequent showers, so as not to disturb the healing process. However, office work can usually be resumed after one week.
Checklist for the time after the operation:
- Adopt a gentle supine sleeping position
- Avoid any physical exertion
- Do not shower in the first days
Healing process and aftercare
A few days after the operation Dr. Christoph Jethon will perform a follow-up examination and change your dressing. To protect your now particularly sensitive breasts you will receive a compression bra; it relieves your breasts by supporting the tissue and thus also protects the scar area. In consultation with Dr. Christoph Jethon, wearing a so-called Stuttgart belt is also recommended. This prevents implants from shifting and ensures that the symmetry of your breasts is maintained.
After about two weeks the sutures will be removed or will dissolve on their own. You will then notice small scars that will fade over time and eventually become barely noticeable. The final result of your breast augmentation usually becomes apparent only between six and nine months after the operation.
Checklist for aftercare:
- Change of dressing
- Sutures dissolve by themselves
- Wear a compression bra and, if applicable, a Stuttgart belt
- Avoid tight clothing and push-up bras
What are the costs of a breast augmentation?
As a rule, only approximate costs can be given for surgical procedures, as the price is individually determined by the effort and duration of the procedure and any necessary overnight stays in our PraxisClinic Jadore.
