How modern techniques specifically restore shape, firmness and proportions
The human body undergoes an aging process that unfortunately can hardly be stopped and leaves visible traces over time. Weight fluctuations, pregnancies and changes in hormonal balance as well as other factors and events can contribute. The female breast is affected as well: due to skin laxity and weakening of the tissue it loses tension and shape, becoming flattened.
Many women wish to regain their original, more youthful full breast as an aesthetic feature of their beauty. The experienced surgical hands of Dr. Christoph Jethon can fulfill this wish through a surgical breast lift (mastopexy). Often the use of implants can be avoided.
Dr. Jethon at PraxisClinic Jadore: your experienced partner for breast lift surgery
If you decide on a breast lift, Dr. Christoph Jethon, head of PraxisClinic Jadore, is the physician you can trust. He accompanies you competently through all steps to your desired goal: starting with a detailed consultation and consideration of your own ideas, during the operation personally performed by him, and through your care in the follow-up phase. Dr. Jethon applies his many years of experience and his aesthetic sense for harmonious proportions to your breast lift operation to achieve a result that will delight you.
Surgical techniques for a successful breast lift
In a breast lift (mastopexy), the measures required are always determined by the individual female anatomy. As a rule, removal of excess skin is always necessary. In addition, part of the fatty tissue and glandular tissue is shaped so that the breast regains its former contour. Because tightening the skin also changes the position of the nipples, these are repositioned to a natural-looking position during the operation.
The incision technique for the breast lift is similar to that used in breast reduction: a vertical incision from the areola to the breast crease is used to remove skin. If the nipple must be moved upward, an additional incision is made around the areola.
If the breast is overall very sagging or little glandular tissue is present, Dr. Christoph Jethon recommends additionally inserting an implant – for a perfected result.
The technique used by Dr. Christoph Jethon for the breast lift requires as few incisions as possible to keep the procedure minimal. The reduction of the skin envelope should always achieve a good shape and symmetry – with minimal scarring. Preservation of nipple sensitivity and the ability to breastfeed are also important goals for Dr. Jethon.
After the procedure your breast will appear significantly lifted and will feel lighter and firmer in consistency to you.
Use of implants for your breast lift
A sagging breast can additionally lack volume to appear full again after tightening. In that case it is advisable to insert an implant during the surgical breast lift to support the shape and improve the size.
The implants used by Dr. Christoph Jethon are high-quality branded products; their particularly long durability also makes them particularly safe. The special form-stable silicone gel from which they are made approximates the feel of natural breast tissue and offers high wearing comfort. The multiple layering of the implants ensures that the silicone gel does not leak out under physical stress.
Aftereffects and risks following the breast lift
The incisions required for the surgical breast lift usually cause mild pain and increased sensitivity of the breast, especially with upper body movements, which subside after a few days. They are often accompanied by bruising and tissue swelling, but these are harmless.
The scars resulting from the operation are visible for a while but almost completely fade over time – the special technique Dr. Christoph Jethon uses for suturing minimizes their visual prominence.
Repositioning the nipples can temporarily cause sensory disturbances; likewise the ability to breastfeed can be affected for some time – Dr. Christoph Jethon places special emphasis on preserving both nipple sensitivity and breastfeeding ability during the breast lift.

How to best prepare for a breast lift procedure
To support the healing process after the surgical breast lift, you can contribute a lot yourself. It is therefore best to consider the following recommendations in advance:
Nutrition and weight
Each breast consists, in addition to a portion of glandular tissue, also of fatty tissue. The glandular portion is genetically determined, while the fatty tissue portion is mainly dependent on your dietary habits. If you go on a diet after a breast lift to lose weight, the tightened breast may subsequently lose tension and volume. To avoid this risk, you should therefore be close to your ideal weight before the operation so that you are satisfied with the long-term result of your breast lift.
Taking medications with/without a doctor's prescription
Approximately 2 weeks before the surgery date you should avoid taking medications that increase bleeding tendency – for example aspirin or any products containing acetylsalicylic acid. Stopping sleeping pills during this time is also beneficial. Of course you can and should continue to take doctor-prescribed and medically necessary medications and inform Dr. Jethon about them.
Smoking and alcohol
Regular tobacco use increases the risk of circulatory disorders and delays wound healing, which can impair the healing process after surgery. Therefore you should stop smoking at least 2 weeks before the operation or significantly reduce it. Frequent alcohol consumption can also delay the healing process.
Further examinations
An ultrasound examination can be performed before the operation. This can detect possible tissue changes. In individual cases a mammography is also recommended.
Checklist for preparation:
- Possibly diet for weight loss
- Avoid sleeping pills and all blood-thinning medications
- Restrict or pause tobacco and alcohol consumption
- Ultrasound examination and possibly a mammography
How does the breast lift operation proceed?
Before the operation Dr. Christoph Jethon marks the exact incision lines on your breast; this is done while you are standing so that the breast lift achieves the desired appearance. You will then receive general anesthesia so that you remain completely relaxed during the surgical procedure. The duration of the operation is between 2 and 3 hours depending on the measures agreed with you.
Dr. Christoph Jethon will perform the procedure himself and make only as many incisions as necessary. He will remove excess skin. In prior consultation with you, Dr. Jethon will also shape the glandular tissue or reposition the nipple to achieve the breast shape and give it a natural appearance. If implant placement is planned, Dr. Christoph Jethon will insert it at that time.
Finally the incisions are closed intradermally so that the surgical scars are barely visible after the completed healing process. You will receive a special dressing and later a support bra for protection and support.
For breast lift surgeries Dr. Christoph Jethon usually recommends a 1-day stay in one of the comfortable rooms. Smaller procedures can also be performed on an outpatient basis.
Checklist for the operation:
- General anesthesia
- Duration of surgery: between 2 – 3 hours
- 1-day clinic stay recommended
- Outpatient stay possible
What should I observe after the operation?
Due to the incisions required during the operation and the repositioning of the nipples, you will experience breast pain in the following days. The formation of swelling and bruising are common concomitant phenomena, but they are not problematic and disappear after a few days. A numbness of the nipples may also occur, which also subsides.
When sleeping you should avoid positions that put pressure on your breasts; ideally adopt a slightly elevated supine position.
You should absolutely refrain from all sporting activities in the next 6 weeks, as well as other physical exertion, e.g. in the household, or expansive arm movements that strain the chest muscles.
You should also avoid sauna visits to not impair the healing process of the scars and tissue. However, you can resume office work after about one week.
Checklist for the immediate time after the operation:
- Adopt a breast-friendly sleeping position (supine)
- Avoid physical exertion such as sports/housework for 6 weeks
- Do not shower or allow water contact on the upper body in the first week
Healing process of the breast lift and follow-up care
A few days after the operation Dr. Christoph Jethon performs a follow-up examination and the dressing will be changed.
Because your breast is particularly sensitive for a while, you will receive a special bra which you should wear for the following 6 weeks. This relieves your breast as it supports and holds the tissue, thereby also protecting the scars.
After two weeks Dr. Jethon will remove some of the sutures; after another week the remaining ones. The scars remain visible for some time; they regress and fade over time. The final result of your breast lift is normally visible between six and nine months later.
Checklist for follow-up care:
- Change of dressing after a few days
- Partial suture removal after 2 weeks
- Removal of remaining sutures after another week
- Wear the special bra
- Avoid tight-fitting clothing
